Obamanation | Subversive Artwork
This political piece is made up of 49 images collected during Barack Obama’s presidency (2009–2017), focusing on the impact of drone strikes in Palestine and Syria. It highlights the terror and heartbreak experienced by civilians — particularly children — living in the midst of war.
In response to a brief to design a subversive, pixel-based poster, I created a conceptual piece that critiques the contrast between Barack Obama’s public image and the violence enacted under his administration. The design uses a grid of square “pixels” — each square representing lives affected by drone warfare.
The piece invites viewers to reflect on how imagery, power, and narrative are manipulated — and how truth can be fragmented into something harder to see.
